Our Beliefs

At the Church of Pentecost - PIWC Athens, we are committed to living out the teachings of Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. Our beliefs are rooted in the Word of God and reflect our deep conviction in the following core tenets:

1. The Bible

We believe that the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God, given to guide, instruct, and shape our lives. It is the final authority in all matters of faith and conduct (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

2. The Trinity

We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and co-eternal (Matthew 28:19).

3. Salvation through Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again on the third day. Through His death and resurrection, we are offered forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life (John 3:16; Romans 10:9).

4. Baptism and Communion

We believe in the importance of baptism by immersion as an outward sign of an inward transformation and commitment to Christ. We also regularly observe Holy Communion, symbolizing the body and blood of Jesus Christ, in remembrance of His sacrifice (Matthew 28:19; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).

5. The Holy Spirit

We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit, which empowers believers to live holy and victorious lives. The Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts for ministry and service, enabling us to fulfill God’s mission on earth (Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11).

6. Holiness and Christian Living

We believe that Christians are called to live lives of holiness, set apart for God. This involves a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, daily devotion, prayer, and the pursuit of godly character and conduct (1 Peter 1:15-16).

7. The Church

We believe that the Church is the body of Christ, consisting of all believers who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. As a community, we gather for worship, fellowship, and to serve one another and the world around us (Ephesians 4:11-16).

8. The Second Coming of Christ

We believe in the imminent return of Jesus Christ to judge the living and the dead. His coming will bring the fulfillment of God’s kingdom on earth, and we look forward to eternal life with Him (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).

9. Evangelism and Mission

We believe in the Great Commission given by Jesus Christ to His followers, to make disciples of all nations. We are committed to sharing the gospel, both locally and globally, and to being a light to the world (Matthew 28:19-20).

10. The Power of Prayer

We believe in the power of prayer and its central role in the life of every believer. Through prayer, we communicate with God, receive guidance, and experience His transformative power in our lives (Philippians 4:6-7).
